Administration & Confidentiality

When contracting I explain to all my clients that counselling is confidential.

I also advise that sometimes you may wish to let someone know you are seeing a counsellor but that is your decision. I will never call you unless you are happy for me to do so or acknowledge you outside the counselling room unless you are comfortable with that.

Confidentiality may be broken if I feel you, or someone else, may be in danger, if possible I will try to discuss this with you first. I also discuss issues with my supervisor as part of my professional role and responsibility as set out by the BACP.

I keep notes as per BACP guidelines and the data protection act 1998 and GDPR 2018, they are stored securely. Notes are for my professional use only and do not contain any identifiable details. Your personal details are stored separately.

I am a member of the ICO, I do not distribute newsletters or send out any bulk emails, I adhere to GDPR Guidance (General Data Protection Regulations ) May 2018. I liaise 1:1 with clients using their preferred method of communication.

Cancellations

I hold a 24-hour cancellation policy, this allows sessions or meetings to be offered to other clients. Appointments cancelled without 24 hours’ notice will incur a full charge. Note I am sympathetic to extenuating circumstances.
